4 Simple Way's to Rock a Morning Routine

My favourite podcast, as many of you know - is The Wellness Wonderland with Katie Dalebout. One of her signature questions is "What is your morning routine?" I love hearing what her guests talk about.

Green juice.

Hot water with lemon.

A bulletproof coffee.

Some yoga.

You name it -morning routines are my jam. They are also something I struggle with. Consistency and knowing when to go with the flow.

I used to be a (early) morning person. Now, I struggle with the snooze button (thanks adorable puppy sounds). So cultivating a morning routine is essential to get myself out of bed and to be a little gentler to the snooze feature on my iphone.

So here is a little snapshot into what my fave morning routine looks like:

I like to start my mornings with some liquid gold. The image above shows a few delicious drinks that I love to kickstart my system and wake me up - caffeine free.

First - green juice. Today was as much green as I could pop in there. It's full of two different kinds of kale, spinach, romaine, parsley, cilantro, cucumber, celery, lemon, pineapple and green apple. It's about 80% greens, and then 20% sweet fruits. I also like to add 1-2 drops of ginger essential oil and stir it all up before sipping.

Second - warm spicy water. What's spicy water you say? Well it's:

- 1 cup hot water

- 1 tbsp ACV

- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (or to taste)

- a chunk of fresh ginger sliced up and steeped in the water for five minutes

- juice of 1/2 a lemon

BOOM. Spicy. This recipe is awesome because it helps warm the digestive system and get your juices going. So many people struggle with low stomach acid and can't properly digest food, this recipe is a sure fire way to kick start your stomach acid production and ensure proper digestion. It also tastes pretty amazing, if I do say so myself.

Finally, I have Strest by St.Francis Herb Farm in a cup of room temperature water. Strest is an adrenal tonic with holy basil and five other herbal adaptogens, which act as metabolic regulators. These help the body cope with the daily stresses, both physical (environmental) and emotional our body faces.

Their website says "Factors like a daily commute, pollution, strenuous exercise, and poor diet can all exert a negative influence on immune and adrenal functions, not to mention our mental and emotional equilibrium. Easy to take and affordable, Strest® is a prime way of enabling the body to recover from the toll taken by all these worries and pressures. Strest® nurtures the nervous system and offers a superb means of reducing anxiety and mental fatigue. At the same time, it improves sleep patterns and promotes a calm state of mind, even as it enhances mood stability." So I have recently added this in to support my adrenals and help eliminate adrenal fatigue.

1. So tip one is drink liquid gold. Whether it be warm water with lemon, green juice, a herbal tonic or tincture, or even some Dandy Blend or tea - drink up in the morning. Also add in a litre of water to your morning routine - hydration is key.

2. Tip two is cultivate gratitude. I love to start my day with the Five Minute Journal. But you don't need to go buy this book to practice gratitude. Take a blank journal and write down three things you are grateful for & a positive affirmation for the day. Feels good right?

3. Get organized. This is a huge one for me, and why I spend a lot of my mornings doing a quick clean of the house. I make the bed, put away the dishes, and vacuum the main floor. It feels productive and the space feels clean and re-energized. I also get clear on what I need to accomplish for the day - which puts my mind in a focused, and energized space. This is also when I take the time to get my diffuser's started.

My main floor typically has OnGuard diffusing - helps support our immune systems and smells amazing, especially in fall. My office get's a little dose of Passion - which smells UNREAL. I also like to diffuse lemon in the bathroom to make sure it smells clean and fresh at all times. My fave essential oil company is doterra, and if you want to know more you can email me at!

4. Get outside. Going outside in nature, getting some fresh air - does the body and mind good. I have dogs, so this is easy. But sometimes I don't enjoy those walks - being pulled in multiple directions (our foster dog is not great on a leash, yet) doesn't promote a calm mind. So sometimes I like to just take Bandit and go out in nature. It could be a ten minute walk or maybe you have time for an hour or so, just get outside & breathe in deep. You will feel grounded and so ready to get things done.

And here's my secret, extra little tip - make sure your morning routine absolutely lights you up. It doesn't have to be the same as mine, the only thing that matters about your morning routine is that you absolutely love it. It doesn't have to be complicated or time consuming.

That's it for today everyone, I can't wait for you to hear this week's podcast episode - being recorded tomorrow & to hear everyones thoughts,

Love & green juice,

Jedrah xo
