Consistency is key.

July 14, 2016

I will be the first to admit that consistency is key + that consistency is HARD. I've been struggling to be consistent with blogging, but I've been spending a lot of time writing very personal accounts of my life (and working on my upcoming detox program, launching August 1st). It's a lot of things I am not ready to share yet. But I will say this, after deciding (very strongly) that there is absolutely nothing stopping me from living my best life (except for me), I realized that a few things have to change.

ONE: my attitude. I really have to move into a space of a quiet mean girl (my ego), and a loud inner cheerleader. Consistency is key when it comes to our mindset. No one can transition or stick to a healthy lifestyle without, well, sticking to it. It takes 21 days for a new habit to stick. 21 days for a change to take effect (and usually for you to feel it). The question is how do you stick to it?

TWO: my lifestyle and how I manage my time. About a month or so ago, I read the book Eat That Frog! by Brian Tracey, and although it home I hadn't adopted any of his suggestions until NOW. Last night, I took 20 minutes on Plan to Eat (my fave meal planner and recipe archive) to plan my meals for the next few weeks AND I wrote them down. I don't know about you, but I actually do better with things written down than in my phone or an app (its even more effective for me to write it down than to type it and print).

So I now have a HUGE customizable calendar (dollar store find), where I have started writing my schedule, my hubs schedule, my planned meals (lunch and dinner), and a section for bills/to do lists. I'm also creating a master list - this includes all of the things I need to get done to feel successful each week. I've also got a list of non-negotiables that basically need to get done before ANYTHING else. And this is huge.

I don't do anything else, until what needs done - get's done. One of these things is having a clean house. I don't cook healthy meals, I stress out (raising my cortisol levels), I don't move my body, if my house is a mess. In fact, this is usually what happens when my house is a mess - I shut down, watch endless hours of netflix and binge on swoon worthy instagram accounts of people doing the things I want to be doing.

It's become very important to me to prioritize my health. After a year of not so fantastic health, weight gain, hormonal imbalances, broken bones, cortisol levels through the rough, adrenal fatigue, gut health imbalances - my body has said ENOUGH. I've also decided to take my very expensive education and lay it on thick on myself. I'm giving myself a taste of my own medicine (holistic wellness and nutrition to be clear).

THREE: my finances. This has been an area that has stressed the hubs and me out to the max. We get one step ahead and then life throws a (expensive, or lack of money) curveball at us. I'm gonna be honest with you here, consistency is DEFINITELY key with your finances. After a year of unpaid medical leaves, lay offs, job changes, moves, sick dogs, replacing furniture or other expensive items, we were feeling a little tight. Money is usually an area that feels icky to a lot of us. In fact - the reason I feel like I've held myself back so long is that I feel gross charging money for the things I put out there or the knowledge I have - but no more. I have a beautiful message to share, and a ton of knowledge and wisdom to dish out. I'm also changing my mindset around this COMPLETELY and taking a few online courses to help get my finances and biz in order.

FOUR: personal growth and development. One of my mentors recently said, you can't get to the position or rank or career you want if you stay the person you are today. YOU have to grow in order to grow your biz, your rank, your career - anything. So, I'm committing to ONE book a week that has to do with personal development or that will inspire me in some way. This week it's Liz Gilbert's Big Magic and I have a WHOLE pile of books where that came from. It also means listening to podcasts (while moving because this helps get them into our heads), watching webinars, videos, reaching out to new people, and stepping outside of my comfort zone. I'm pretty excited about creating a consistent practice around this. And I'm excited to share with you all shortly the tools I'm creating for myself to stay consistent with ease.

FIVE: I need to create space for what I truly want to manifest. Yes I am getting woo-woo on you, and that's cool. I truly believe that when we open ourselves up for what the universe has in store for us, good things, people and experiences open up to us. It's all about living a high vibe life and attracting beautiful things to yourself.

I wish I could tell you all that consistency and change was easy, but it's not. So let's all commit to being consistent with things that will uplift or up level our lives and enable us to live in a high vibe state, OK?
